#11 Getting started
Before you start you should have an idea of what you want to build inside teamdecoder. Maybe you have a little drawing from the last workshop off the flipchart or a Miro board that looks like this:
"Translation"
This is just an example, this will most probably look very different for you.
Translate this into the mytpt items:
large grey boxes are CIRCLES
black outlines are sub-circles, we use the PROJECTS list
yellow post-its are ROLES
and green post its are TASKS foo these roles
We recommend the following order when you start the creation of your team with teamdecoder.
YELLOW
Fill in the names of the people you want to include in the yellow list.
Don't forget their e-mail addresses so they can later get their report.BLUE
Create items in the blue lists: skills, roles, domains, links.
This is an opportunity to start reflecting and develop an idea of what list stands for what in your case.Skills and roles have identical tools (several owners possible), so they can be used in similar ways.
Maybe your company is still organized hierarchically, in which case you might need to use the roles' list for titles (for instance "head of product" etc.)
Likewise, you can use a list of talents to put at better use the preferences of people in your team, according to what they would love to do. This could be great for the skills list!
GREEN
Then use the Focus Modes to build the green circles and projects. We recommend that you build them from the blue items, not from the people's list. Otherwise, they would not know why they belong to a circle.
In the example from the beginning you would:
add all people in the team in the yellow list
create all roles from the yellow post its
add the tasks to these roles in the role tools (see later)
and then create the circles and projects
enter Focus Mode for one of them and add all roles that are inside
repeat with the other circles and projects
also attribute the sub-circles to the top-circles (in teamdecoder you can attribute a project to one circle)
once you attrinbute the people to the roles, teamdecoder will show you who is in what circle and project
Here is a video about the creation of a new team, from the very beginning:
